The programme of the 33rd Göteborg International Film Festival is released. The festival of 2010 offers a programme where 450 short, feature and documentary films from 78 countries will be screened during ten days. On top of that you will find 50 seminars, the Nordic Film Market and a Festival tent full of events, concerts and parties.

"A year’s hard work is over and now we have all the fun to look forward to. With themes like Africa, India and ”Sharing”  – about sharing each other’s reality – I have the feeling that the festival, more than ever, will be a place for unexpected experiences and ideas, anything can happen, says Festival Director Marit Kapla.

The opening film is Fredrik Egerstrands and Mikel Cee KarlssonsThe Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González, the first of the nominees for the Nordic Film Award. The Closing Film will be Veiko Öunpuu’s The Temptations of St Tony.

This year we focus on a special film continent: Africa. The African focus takes a close look upon the new African film production. The theme includes the project Forget Africa, initiated by the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The African films in the Forget Africa project are produced with support from Göteborg International Film Festival Fund and the Hubert Bals Fund.

The Nordic Film Market welcomes around 250 distributors, buyers and festival programmers from all over the world to see the most exciting new and upcoming Nordic Films, during the last days of the festival.

The Swedish programme Swedish Images, includes a total of 133 films. The film year of 2009 is examined and the programme also includes ten brand new feature films, and 92 short films.

In addition to the films the Göteborg International Film Festival programme presents an extensive seminar programme with 50 seminars, including Master Classes with Günter Wallraff and Sally Potter.
