Avant-garde filmmakers Lisl Ponger and Tim Sharpe from Vienna presented their work as well as Sami van Ingen from Helsinki. All of them used amateur home movie footage in their experimental films on memory, tourists and nomads.

I was especially thrilled to see the until now completely unknown works by Swedish filmmaker Sven Elfström, a communist shipyard worker, who made agit prop, but also exciting, inventive, original and funny surrealist short films which could inspire today's young filmmakers! John Sundholm discovered the films which are influenced, as I see it, by Bunuel, Vertov, Tarkovskij and Godard. Sven, age 80+, also attended the festival and all filmmakers
introduced their works and answered questions after the screenings.

Great workshop!
